Learning Your Equipment Specs

It's important to know the specifications of your equipment. Learn more from the team at Custom Billiards.

Different Table Sizes

Table sizes come in 3 1/2' x 7', 4' x 8', and 4 1/2' x 9' with the play area measuring twice as long as it is wide (± 1/8") from the cloth-covered nose of the cushion rubber to the opposite cushion rubber. 4 1/2' x 9' tables with a play area of 50" x 100" is the recognized size for professional tournament play. The table bed height should be 29 1/4" minimum to 31" maximum.

Take Measurements of All Areas

Other parts of the table that will need to be measured include the pocket openings, playing bed, cushion, pool balls, and the pool cues. All of this information is important because it'll help you make sure the pool table you have picked out will fit in the room.

Regulations for the Billiard Congress of America

The Billiard Congress of America has rules, regulations, and specifications for the size the pool table has to be to qualify for competitions and tournaments. If your table will be used for something other than recreational home use, it's important to learn about the specifications the BCA has set in place.
